The Shefford Hereford cattle herd was formed in 1992 with purchases made from the late Major Michel Symonds who founded his Llandinabo herd in 1947. The stock at Llandinabo is based on females that were purchased from most of the famous herds in Herefordshire principally Free Town, The Vern, The Haven, and Tarrington.

Farncombe Farm is a family run farm dating from the early 1900's. From 2000 the whole farm was planted with grass of the old fashion varieties - since then it has been farmed without the use of chemical fertiliser and chemical pesticides - grazing beef cattle. We have now started our own herd of Traditional Herefords buying in 8 heifers. Our first calves were born spring 2010. Our aim is to have a suckler herd of 30 cows.

The Herd was started by Juliet Fenton in 1991 with the purchase of stock from the Llandinabo Herd of Major Michael Symonds and the Springhill herd of Mr Downton, both of whom had been unswerving supporters, against the odds, of the Traditional Hereford.
