Traditional Meat Marketing Scheme

The "Traditional Meats Meat Marketing Scheme" is a company that was set up to market the meat produced by the rare breeds associated with the Rare Breeds Trust. It is at present the main purchaser and retailer of Traditional Hereford Beef produced by members.

The scheme was set up initially by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, but passed into private administration. The Meat Marketing Scheme purchases meat produced from the recognised native breeds of cattle, which includes the Traditional Hereford. The meat is marketed by a network of nominated butchers who run ordinary butchers shops, in the High Street's of towns and villages.

Other members of the club have found various methods of selling their product either at the wholesale or retail market. Individual members do sell direct to the public, either through their Farm Shop, at organised Town Retail Markets, or using the Internet.
