New classes were added for Traditional Herefords at Moreton-in-Marsh Show on Saturday 5 September, where exhibitors gathered to display their cattle to upwards of 20,000 visitors at the event. Receiving the inaugural award for Traditional Hereford Breed Champion at this show was the 2019-born cow Boresisle Regina 87th from Mrs Sarah Cowle, Aylesbury, as judged by Mr Gerald Cox, Hereford.

Sired by Lower Eaton Diamond and shown with her March-born heifer calf Eutierria Regina 2nd at foot by Carpenters Brigadier EX90, this cow takes home her second Breed Championship of the year, having earlier claimed the top spot at the Shropshire Show in May.

The Reserve Breed Championship was awarded to Mr Leslie Cook's August 2024-born in-calf heifer Albany Lovage, sired by Boresisle Richmond EX94, and winning the class for heifers born in 2024. The Cook family also had the winner in a strong class of junior heifers born on or after 1 January 2025 with another Boresisle Richmond daughter Langridge Snowy, owned and exhibited by Miss Frances Cook, taking the first prize.

Male Champion went to the March 2025-born bull Caebach Yukon from N & R Johnson, Caerphilly. This bull is an AI son of the 1974-born Little Tarrington Panzer (also pictured), which is one of the bulls whose photo has recently been added to the information available in the THBC Semen Catalogue, where you can find details of a wide range of modern and archived Traditional Hereford bulls for use by AI.

Thanks go to our judge Gerald Cox, the Moreton Show Livestock Committee and HCS's Mike Shaw for including classes for Traditional Herefords for the first time, and to the exhibitors who supported them with their entries.
